Design Process
The flexible material is easy to mold. The designs required a particular mold to create the product. Most of mine were made from reusable materials. In the first example, I used kitchen utensils including a recycled yogurt container, plates and bowls, a fruit basket, and a plastic cup. For my second design, I filled an old hat with expanding foam. The foam later hardened and was then used for molding the henequen/latex material. The raw fiber maintains a sticky quality which allows the material to combine into a single mass. Afterwards it is placed in a clay oven to harden the material and improve its durability.
