PPE
COVID-19 Entrepreneurship Project
Medical protection designs.

Concerned about the mountain of medical waste the Covid pandemic is generating and the cost of protection gear for a developing country, I debated and researched more sustainable ideas. I located a Mexican factory to produce high tech, sterile fabric which is both effective against the penetration of covid particles and 83% biodegradable. With the help of the factory owner, our high school uniform supplier, and the residents and doctors of a renowned public medical institute. ProTG created two models of PPE.
Both designs used the fabric efficiently with less waste, producing a cost effective product. The 3 designs (head cover, jumpsuit and scrubs) were chosen with efficient use of the fabric in mind.

The head protection was made with scraps from the production of the jumpsuits. We used velcro to make the head protection easy to remove and to reduce the risk of contamination. The head piece could also be tightened in order to adjust it to the wearer.
Our goal was zero waste.
